Celebrate Europe Day!
Europe Day celebrates peace and unity and marks the anniversary of the 'Schuman Declaration'. On 9th May, 1950, Schuman, inspired by Jean Monnet, proposed the creation of a European community to manage coal and steel (the basis of military power and industrial development). In 1951, the European Coal and Steel Community (ECSC) was created, making it the first step towards European integration. In 1957, the Treaties of Rome would consolidate this integration with the creation of the European Economic Community (EEC) and the European Atomic Energy Community (Euratom). Thus, the EU was born out of a peace initiative focused on building a common future.
During the day there will be exhibitions of projects carried out by our 7th and 12th grade students in the Geography subject.
