Telma Fresta (IB Coordinator)
Telma Luís Fresta, born in the United Kingdom, has a degree in Modern Foreign Languages and Literature (English and Portuguese) and has been teaching English for 3º ciclo and secondary level at St Peter’s International School for 12 years. She also teaches English A and B in the IB Diploma as well as coordinating the Modern Foreign Languages and the International Baccalaureate Diploma departments. Telma also prepares students for different levels of Cambridge University English Language exams.
Marco Garcia (Computer Science)
Marco has a degree in IT Management and has been an IT teacher since 1999. He has experience of teaching and coordinating different courses in IT Programing and Management. He is currently teaching IT and Programing in the national curriculum as well as Computer Science for the International Baccalaureate Diploma Programme.
Joana Lami (IB-SPANISH)
Joana Lami Roque has a degree in Sociology of Education as well as a degree in Portuguese and Classical Languages. She has also completed a Masters in Portuguese and Spanish Teaching by the Universidade Nova de Lisboa. She has also a DELE Superior C2 Diploma by the Cervantes Institute, for which she is also an examiner. Joana is currently teaching Spanish as a second language, as well as preparing pupils for the different levels of Cervantes Institute Spanish Language exams. Currently, Joana is also teaching Spanish ab Initio for the IB Diploma.
Luye Ge (IB Mandarim A)
Luye Ge, born in People’s Republic of China, has a degree in Chinese Language and Literature by the University of Wenzhou, China. She has been teaching Chinese for over six years in Portugal and has taught in the Chinese School in Lisbon, as well as in the Language school in Tomar and in Torres Novas. She is currently teaching Mandarin A for the IB Diploma to native speakers and she is also teaching Mandarin to different year groups. Luye Ge also prepares students for the Mandarin exam in colaboration with the Instituto Confúcio da Universidade de Lisboa.
Miguel Coelho (Biology)
Miguel Coelho has an MA in Marine Biology and a Post-Graduation in biochemistry and DNA engineering. He taught IB Biology and IB ESS in Colégio Planalto for 16 years. During the summer of 2010, Miguel taught Biology in IB Oxford Study Courses. He has been CAS advisor and EE supervisor for several years. He is also an ESS IB Diploma IA moderator and Paper 2 assistant examiner for the International Baccalaureate Organization. Currently he is the IB Science Department coordinator at St Peter’s International School.
Helen Gonçalves (History and Tok)
After studying History at Southhampton University Helen Gonçalves became a Textile Conservator, working in museums and galleries in the UK for 7 years, before retraining to teach History. She taught History in London for the national system for 3 years and then moved to Sao Paulo, Brazil where she was an IGCSE and IB History and Theory of Knowledge teacher in a British School for 6 years. Helen moved to Portugal in 2016 and currently teaches IB History at St. Peter´s as well as co-ordinating the IB Theory of Knowledge programme. She has the CELTA qualification to teach English as a foreign language. Helen´s specialism is now teaching 20th century European history.
Francisco Vilaça Lopes
Francisco graduated in Telecommunications and Electronics Engineering from Instituto Superior Técnico, in Lisbon. He also has a MBA from Universidade Nova, em Lisboa. Francisco has 23 years’ experience of teaching in Universities (IST, ISEL and ISEG) and in IB Diploma Programme schools, teaching Economics, Business and Management, Theory of Knowledge and Mathematical Studies. He has also professional experience of top management at Sonae Group for 12 years. Since 2009, he is also an IBO Diploma Examiner participating in several marking seasons either as a Team Leader and/or Principal Examiner. Francisco is teaching DP Economics and Mathematical Studies at St Peter's International School and believes that the IB Curriculum is crucial to make our students more responsible citizens and able to give a stronger contribution for a better world.
Nelson Agostinho (Mathematics SL and Mathematics HL)
Nelson Agostinho, born in Covilhã - Portugal, has a degree in Education (Mathematics) from Universidade da Beira Interior, and Post-Graduation in Neurosciences for the Education from Universidade Católica Portuguesa. He is currently teaching Mathematics Standard Level and Mathematics Higher Level on the International Baccalaureate Diploma Programme, at St. Peter´s International School, which he has done for the past four years. He has over twenty years of teaching experience from Ensino Básico to Secondary. Nelson was a Science Department coordenator in Externato de Nossa Sra dos Remédios. He was also na examiner for the Bolsa de Classificadores do Instituto de Avaliação Educacional, where his merit was recognised. He has participated in various projects, including multi-disciplinary ones.
Miguel Cruz (CAS)
Miguel Cruz has a degree in Physical Education and Sports from Universidade Lusófona de Humanidades e Tecnologias. He has been teaching Physical Education in 3º ciclo Ensino Básico anda t secondary level for the last seven years at St. Peter’s International School. For the last three years, he has been the School Sports coordinator for the school, where he also coaches football and swimming. For three years, he was also an Instructor/Leader for the Prémio Infante D. Henrique, a programme for youth development. Miguel is currently teaching CAS for the IB Diploma programme.
